Article Guidelines
From TheAlcopedia
These guidelines have been created to ensure some kind of uniform structure is present throughout the site. Please be aware that these are only guidelines, and rules here can be bent or broken, but please heed what we say!
General Guidelines
- If you set out to create an article, ask yourself: Do I really know enough about this subject, and am I motivated enough to write a good article? If the answer to either of those questions is no, then take some time to do some reasearch, or wait for a chance when you have the time and motivation to write a half decent article. A page with a couple of sentances isn't really much use, or a valid contribution.
- {{stub}} is your friend. Be sure that if you write a light article, which has room for improvement, you include the text {{stub}} at the bottom of your article. This will mark it as needing expansion and/or clarification, so other editors on the Alcopedia will know about it.
- Similarily, if you're intoxicated while writing your article, you might want to add {{drunk}} to the bottom of your article so you don't embarrass yourself.
- Be aware of copyrights and intellectual property theft. Copying an article from another site isn't the thing to be doing- why should someone else do all the hard work just for you to take it and claim it as your own?
- Be sure to categorize your new article, the Alcopedia has many Categories for your article, and if you can't find one for your article, you can create your own by adding the tag
[[Category:Name_Of_Your_Category]]anywhere in your article.
- When you create a new category, directly or indirectly through the article you are currently editing, please take the time to add a little passage of text to that category, and a few instructions for other people who want to add their articles to that category (Such as writing the category tag in nowiki codes).
- Please use the templates below as a guide when writing specific articles on that subject. You don't have to follow them exactly, you can add sections and remove sections but just keep the general template in the back of your mind.
